MPs agree to push crime bill through committee
CanWest News Service quoted SGM’s Frank Addario today in connection with the government’s plan to speed an omnibus 'get tough on crime' bill through committee and to declare any motion on the bill a test of confidence, which would have the effect of threatening an election should the opposition parties seek to amend or oppose it. “We deplore the politicization of criminal law legislation,” said Mr. Addario. “It almost always results in bad law.”
